suicide jacket found at Katharagama

On Tuesday 31 January 2012 the Police discovered a suicide bombers' kit filled with powerful explosives at a pilgrims' rest in Kataragama.
This suicide bombers kit was not found in the North or East, but in Kataragama in Hambantota which is like the heart of the Rajapaksas. Given below is how it was reported in The Island newspaper of 1 February 2012.
Old suicide kit in pilgrims' rest
A group of workers repairing a pilgrim's rest in Kataragama on Tuesday found a suicide jacket hidden in a washing machine. The bomb disposal squad recovered the explosives-filled jacket after civilians alerted the local Police. The washing machine had been discarded about five years ago. At the time, Tuesday's detection was made the machine had been in its stores.
The Police detained eight persons, including some employees of the pilgrims rest.

Police Spokesman SP Ajith Rohana told The Island last night that the bomb kit had been made at least five years ago. The official said that it had been brought in at the height of the military campaign.

Not only The Island newspaper, but other media as well did not give big publicity to the discovery of this suicide bomber kit. This news was published at the bottom on the leading page as a small item of news. The other fact was that the same news item had mentioned that it was a suicide bombers' kit which had been hidden during the time Tiger activities took place. When this kit was discovered in the country's President's ancestral home area or the 'capital of wonder', it was Professor G. L. Peiris who was the External Affairs Minister in this country. However, he did not hold a press briefing a few hours after the discovery and say that it was a serious situation and that Tiger Terrorists were raising their heads again. Namal was a Member of Parliament then. He did not tweet on his twitter account that Tiger terrorism is back and that his father has to take the responsibility for it. Wimal Weerawansa did not participate in a media briefing and say that, Tigers had raised their heads again in the area of birth of the President and that the country was in serious danger. Then Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa did not speak a word about that incident.

However, a suicide bombers kit was discovered last Wednesday in Jaffna. That kit was wrapped in old Sinhala newspapers that dated back to 2006. G. L. Peiris became thoroughly excited. He held a media briefing immediately and said that was the end of the country. He said that the bomb was to have been brought to Wellawatte. In his twitter account Namal Rajapaksa said that the responsibility of Tiger terrorism raising its head again should be acknowledged by the Maithri-Ranil Government. Wimal Weerawansa said that on the bomb 'Wellawatte' was stated. This was all within two or three hours of the discovery of this bomb. The media of this country made the suicide bomber jacket the main headline in their news.

On 24 October 2012, a stock of firearms and weapons hidden by the LTTE in Chettikulam in Vavuniya, was discovered. There were explosives as well. Media which reported this incident did not report it as Tigers raising their heads again. It was reported as weapons hidden during the time that Prabhakaran was alive. On 9 May 2014, a stock of more than 120,000 bullets belonging to the Navy was found in the Eastern Province. On 13 March 2014, while a team of Police Officers from the Terrorism Investigation Division was engaged in a search operation in Kilinochchi, one officer was shot dead. It was revealed that he had been killed by a member of the LTTE Intelligence Division. On 22 March the Police issued a statement saying they will give a reward of Rs 1 million to anyone who found the LTTE Intelligence Division member who murdered the Police Officer.
What was mentioned above were a few incidents of discoveries of LTTE weapons, bullets and their activities which took place from 2009 after the war ended until 2014 when Mahinda was President and Gotabaya was the Defence Secretary. All these incidents were published in media as general news. When those items were being published, it was as if Mahinda, GL, Namal and Wimal had not seen them.

Then why is it that GL, Wimal and Namal are scaring the entire country saying that a suicide bombers kit was found in Jaffna during the period of Maithri-Ranil Government?
It is not difficult to find the answer to that question. On 26 November, which was Prabhakaran's birthday, Mahinda said that Tiger flags had been hoisted and were flying across the North and the East. However, there was not even one Tiger flag to be seen. At the pooja at a Kovil to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prabhakaran, only a group of less than 10 persons turned up and Mahinda and the rest shut their mouths in shame.
Now, similar to when a rabbit ran saying the sky was falling when a leaf fell, people have begun to set the country on fire due to the discovery of the human suicide bombers kit. It is quite clear from reading the article on the Tigers' Tamil Net website, which is keen on restoring the Tigers.

Genocidal military
An abusive and criminal Tamil man, recruited into the ranks of the genocidal military of Colombo and deployed against Tamils, abducted a 16-year-old Tamil girl two weeks ago from Madduvil village in Thenmaradchi in Jaffna. The sexually abused girl managed to escape from the custody of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldier from the nearby Maravanpulavu village on Tuesday. As the incident prompted anger among the public, the SL Police was forced to launch a search operation to capture the SLA trooper. During the search operation, the SL Police entered the house of a 31-year-old man and located explosives at Maravanpulavu on Tuesday evening.
In the meantime, Colombo-based media, including Indian and Western agencies, engaged in agenda-driven reporting, conveniently censored the chain of events and highlighted only the discovery of explosives.
The SLA culprit who abducted and abused the 16-year-old girl was arrested on Wednesday. He was identified as 27-year-old Sivarasa Sivathas.
The arrest came as the Sri Lanka Police feared a backlash from the Tamil villagers, who were preparing to launch massive protests against the SL Military and Police.
The 31-year-old man, Jude Sebastian, who was allegedly in possession of explosives, surrendered to the SL Police in Killinochchi on Wednesday as the SL Police was detaining his family members since their raid on his house on Tuesday.
Sebastian, who hails from Mannar District, was residing at Ma'ravan-pulavu in Thenmaradchi, Ma'ravan-pulavu is situated 13 km South-East of Jaffna City.
Sebastian was a former LTTE member. But, he was now a friend of the abusive SLA soldier, according to the villagers.
The villagers, who had observed Sebastian often leaving his wife inside a closed room whenever he left his house alone, and after witnessing his link to the abusive SLA soldier, tipped the police to check his house when the SL Police was on a search for Sivarasa, the SLA culprit, at Ma'ravan-pulavu village on Tuesday.

The Colombo-based media was highlighting the seizure of explosives as an attempt to revive Tamil militancy.
It is yet to be established whether the seized ammunitions were old stock from the times of the LTTE or something connected to SL Military's illegal dealings or the least possible of all the narratives, an attempt to revive a militant Tamil struggle.
Abusive behaviour
against women
The personalities associated with the Tamil militant struggle in the past, regardless of the identity of the armed movements, have been reputed for their social discipline and were strictly opposed to all kinds of abusive behaviour against women, whether their own or those belonging to other communities.
Within a few hours after Sebastian surrendered to the SL Police, there was another raid at Iluppaik-kadavai in Mannar District, where the SL Police unearthed a steal case with ammunitions around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The SL Police in Mannar didn't reveal whether the raid was connected to the arrest of Sebastian.

The steel case was exhumed from an abandoned toilet pit belonging to the building of Iluppaik-kadavai Agrarian Service Centre, which was used by the SL Military and Police between 2008 and 2015. The area was under LTTE control earlier.
The abusive SLA soldier Sivathas was not a former LTTE member.
The SL Military through various deceptions, recruited more than 600 Tamils in the recent years. However, a large number of Tamil recruits have managed to flee.
There are only 193 males, including Sivathas, and 40 females who remain in the SL military, according to a military official in Jaffna.

There were also reports of underage Tamil girls recruited to the SL Military from poverty-stricken Tamil families in the North and they have been deployed under genocidal Sinhala Military commanders inside the 'High Security Zone,' according to those who have escaped from the SL Military in recent times.

When reading the Tamil Net web page with this article, it is apparent that without saying it in so many words they state that bomb explosions in the North will be disadvantageous to them. The reason is that, today LTTE leaders do not live in the North and East but abroad. They have received political asylum in foreign countries because they have sworn that they are no longer connected to terrorist activities. If a bomb explosion takes place in Sri Lanka they know that they will be taken into custody in those countries. Therefore, they have not got scared because of the suicide bombers kit discovered in Jaffna.

However, the bomb is very jolly for Mahinda, Gotabhaya, G. L. and Wimal. Even though such suicide kits, firearms, weapons and bullets were discovered from 2009 to 2014, this was the first suicide bombers kit which was found after 2015. Even though a stock of weapons hidden by the LTTE was discovered in February 2015, at that time there was no Joint Opposition. Therefore, no one spoke a word about it. They were squirming in pain due to their defeat at that time and stayed with their mouths shut to cover up their thefts. They thought of taking back the government at the Mahinda samaga negitimu rally at Nugegoda. This is the first stock of explosives discovered after that.

Now their mentality is all bombs. If a full stop is to be put to this mentality, the service of security experts who have received foreign training such as Nimal Lewke, who was there not only during the UNP era in charge of security but during the administrations of Chandrika and Mahinda, have to be obtained. Sarath Fonseka should be brought back on to the stage again. It is only then that the Rajapaksa ghosts, which are within the Army even today can be got rid of forever.
